"I had no idea how much I needed to do this. Amber is a gentle and gifted facilitator; Hebron Hill a place of beauty, peace and healing." - Lynn
A group of seven curious souls gathered at Hebron Hill in Albemarle County on April 13 for this years Spring Soul Session. I am so grateful to create and hold space for people on their life's journey.
As soon as you turn onto the gravel drive, you cross over a little bridge over Ivy Creek. Just that simple action of crossing over a threshold, is an invitation to let yourself enter a different state of being, to go a little deeper, to breathe a little slower, to open your heart a little wider. After everyone arrived, we took a tour of the farmhouse and got an overview of the land, and then circled up to set our intentions for the day. At the heart of these gatherings is to meet people where they are and allowing the day to respond do the needs of the group. My role is to create that space for them to pause and connect more deeply with themselves, the natural world, and each other.
"Amber Ellis has made the space and positive environment that provides the perfect opportunity to step away from every day life, pause, reflect and focus on me to help guide my decisions about what is next and rediscover on a fundamental basis who I am and who I want to be going forward. While also building a mutually supportive community. Connecting to nature, getting grounding and returning to the same place that evokes familiarity and change (seasonal changes in nature) is brilliant." - Shereen
The day unfurled perfectly. We got to spend centering through finding moments to be quiet, to meditate, to walk gently. We got to spend time creating through journaling, collaging, and puzzling. And we got to spend time connecting with each other through simply witnessing and listening to one another, to share words of gratitude for the gifts each of us brought to the day, love on little lambs that were just a few weeks old, and openly wander the woods and fields.
This was the first time I added an overnight option and I'm so glad I did! It provided an opportunity for folks to extend their experience. It was amazing to witness the comfort between those who stayed who were strangers that morning. There was an openness to the silent moments, the gentle offerings of making someone a cup of tea before bed, the joy people had in making food for others to enjoy. Enjoy some of the photos from weekend below.
